British songstress Charlotte O’Connor otherwise known as Charlotte OC, is a name that we predict none of us will be forgetting anytime soon. The promising, rising talent is due to return to Highest Point in 2021 and we’re tipping her for big things in the years to come.
Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, the now 26-year-old singer songwriter grabbed the attention of representatives at one of the industry’s most distinguished record labels at a young age. Signed by Columbia records in her teenage years, the left-field pop artist got a taste of what it was to be a major artist, working alongside industry moguls on a record that would sadly never come to be released.
Columbia and Charlotte went their separate ways and, after a short break away from music, she found a new home. A UK based label representing the likes of Lana Del Rey and Pixie Geldof – Stranger Records.
Her debut release with Stranger Records, 2013’s ‘Colour My heart’ EP saw the young artist maturing creatively. Working alongside renowned producer Tim Anderson (Solange, Billie Eilish, Halsey), the singer conjured a much darker and moodier feel on tracks such as ‘Hangover’ and ‘Cut the Rope’. Her following releases, ‘Strange’ and ‘Burning’ released via Harvest/Polydor Records, followed in the same vein and received high praise amongst many critics and music fans, especially in the states.
Collaborating once more with Anderson, she released her first full-length record ‘Careless People’ in 2017. The album would be the last project she would work on with Harvest/Polydor Records before going independent.
O’Connor’s latest five-track EP and first solo offering ‘Oh the Agony, Oh the Ecstasy’, was released in May this year and features some of the singers most accessible and popular tracks to date, including ‘Falling for you’ and ‘Blue Eyes Forever’. Showcasing the angelic and soulful tones of the singer’s voice, which has drawn comparisons to the likes of Stevie Nicks and Adele, the record continues to attract a wealth of new fans from across the globe.
Catch the burgeoning star live at Highest Point 2021 on Saturday 15th May.
