The indisputable ‘Queen of the South’, razor sharp wordsmith Ms Banks is the exciting young talent paving the way for a new generation of global dominating, British female MCs.

Possessing an almost unequalled ability to craft, spit and sing, the versatile 24-year-old, born and raised in East Hackney, South London, has been refining her distinct sound and innovative writing skill since she was just 11 years old. Immersed in culture from an early age, courtesy of her musically talented Ugandan Mother and Nigerian Father, Banks took her inspiration from a diverse range of genres, musicians, singers and, most importantly, MCs.

From Afrobeat to Jungle and UK Garage, her numerous sought-after productions are almost impossible to pigeon hole, yet the influence of some of the rappers’ biggest idols, the likes of east coast, gangsta rap empress Lil Kim and home-grown MCs Ms Dynamite and Lisa Mafia, remains clearly defined. She’s developed her own unique persona and brazen, female empowering alter ego, successfully following on in the footsteps of her role models, breaking through into what is still a mainly male dominated scene.

With a fierce, unwavering attitude towards her profession, her bold use of wordplay, inimitable flow and eclectic choice of beats has rightly gained the rapper/singer the recognition she duly deserves amongst her peers and critics. She’s amassed a huge following across the globe, received multiple awards and nominations, such as the BET Hip Hop Award for Best International Flow, and collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry. She’s toured around the UK with the likes Nicki Minaj, rap trio Migos and ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper Cardi B, appeared on Mike Skinners first ever ‘Streets Mixtape’ and featured on a handful of tracks with UK heavyweights JME, Tinie Tempah and Stormzy to name a few.

Banks has released two studio albums to date, 2018’s ‘The Coldest Winter Ever’ and follow up ‘The Coldest Winter Ever, Pt. 2’ in 2019. The most recent full-length features collaborations with the likes of Manchester born rapper Geko, Moelogo, Tiggs Da Author and Kida kudz who appears on Banks’ biggest hit – ‘Snack’.

Witness a live masterclass in rap from the monarch of British hip-hop at Highest Point 2021 on Friday 14th May.
