Piers Aggett, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor and Leon Rolle, a.k.a DJ Locksmith, better known for their exploits as global dominating drum n bass quartet Rudimental, are the four uncompromising, sonic pioneers providing new and regular flavours of club music to ravers across the world.
Accredited by many industry professionals as one of the few groups that ignited a recent revival of dance music within the UK, the electronic outfit have been successful in creating their own unique take on contemporary bass music, infiltrating popular music culture.
Frequently a fixture within the top ten of many of the music charts, the group have remained focused on producing quality releases and performances, effortlessly blending a diverse range of personal influences, from soul to jungle, drum n bass and R&B, with the voices of some of the world’s most esteemed vocal talents, gaining accolades for their accompanying, energetic live performances.
Hailing from Hackney, East London, the creative collective formed over a decade ago and quickly set about making a name for themselves within the capitals thriving underground music scene. Rising through the ranks, making regular appearances on some of the most respected pirate radio stations, the foursome gained their first taste of success with their chart smashing single ‘Feel the Love’ in 2012. Featuring vocals from northern soul man John Newman, the track spent 57 weeks on the official UK charts and was championed by BBC Radio 1’s former tastemaker Zane Lowe.
2013 saw the collective deliver their first full length record, the Mercury Prize Award nominated album – ‘Home’. Featuring some of the groups biggest hits, including the BRIT Award winning single ‘Waiting All Night’ with vocalist Ella Eyre, ‘Powerless’ with Becky Hill and the aforementioned John Newman collaboration, the album debuted on the UK charts at number one, going double platinum selling over 600,000 copies.
‘We the Generation’, released in 2015, and last years ‘Toast to Our Differences’ subsequently followed the groups debut, smash hit album. Both records included appearances from an array of some of the most respected, high profile names within the music world – from grime don Dizzee Rascal, to the late great soul legend Bobby Womack and global megastar Ed Sheeran.
‘Be Strong’, the quartets latest single is yet another collaborative effort, this time with British house producer Hot Since 82. The track see’s the collection of artists coming together, producing an infectious tech house banger built for the club.
