Combining decades of experience, a superior knowledge of clubland culture and a common appreciation for an assortment of dance music styles, Danny Howells, Darren Emerson and Dave Seaman, aka 3D, are the three iconic selectors united in their mission to challenge the norm of modern day rave.
Formed back in 2017, the distinguished trio joined forces with a shared objective in mind – to enhance the traditional live dance music show.
Rejecting the usual back-to-back format, Howells, Emerson and Seaman collectively take to the stage, performing as one entity, delivering a unique and unrehearsed live display at every occasion.
Jostling for control of the decks, each member brings their own individual taste to the room, seamlessly mixing a selection of prime cuts from a wide scope of genres – from deep house to tech house and everything inbetween.
Believe us when we say, there aren’t many out there that could pull it off as well as these guys do. To understand why, all you have to do is delve into each member’s illustrious past…
Danny Howells has been active in the industry for over two decades. He’s more commonly recognised as the mix master behind numerous acclaimed albums, such as his three-part ‘Nocturnal Frequencies’ series for Obsessive Records. He’s held residencies at numerous world class clubs, such as Renaissance and the Ministry of Sound in London, and is the head honcho of the internationally renowned Dig Deeper imprint.
Famed for his hand in founding one of Britain’s most adored electronic acts, Underworld, Darren Emerson is still pushing the boundaries of dance music after more than 30 years in the business. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, from the likes of Bjork and Depeche Mode to The Chemical Brothers, and continues to release progressive records via his own labels – Underwater and Detone.
Is there anyone Dave Seaman hasn’t worked with. Seriously. In his 30 plus years in the industry, he’s collaborated with the likes of The Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Sasha, Underworld and the late, great David Bowie to name a few. A former editor at Mixmag and founder of two era-defining imprints, Stress and Audio Therapy, Seaman has added a measureless amount of value to the industry. His most recent venture Selador Recordings is also booming, with showcases taking place at Space Ibiza and Watergate Berlin.
3D’s latest release via Selador, ‘3D EP3’ is the third EP in a short trilogy. Consisting of three tracks, ‘Shortwave’, ‘Sleeping Bag’ and ‘Press 1 for Human’, the release features another pioneering concept with all 3 members making an individual contribution to each track on the record. The result is a trio of enchanting house anthems, stocked full of groove, rugged bass lines and off kilter synths.
Make sure you’re present and ready to move to the sounds of 3D live at Highest Point 2021, on Friday 14th May.
