Sharing the home of our very own Highest Point Festival is one of the UK’s most authentic, fiercely independent, underground psych-punk acts – The Lovely Eggs.
Comprised of turbo charged husband and wife duo Holly Ross and David Blackwell, the band, well known not only by the native music loving citizens of Lancaster but by the swathes of fans the pair have amassed across the globe throughout the years, have developed a reputation for their surreal sonic creations and ferocious live performances.
Adhering to a considered DIY ethos since the bands inception, Holly and David have chosen to produce their own records, book and promote their own shows and self-release their work via their own imprint – Egg Records. Without the help of management, a booking agent or record label support, The Lovely Eggs have consistently sold out shows across the UK and performed at some of the biggest music events in the calendar; from Green Man Festival to Boardmaster’s and the now defunct Festival Number 6.
Championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music radio hosts Marc Riley and rock n roll legend Iggy Pop, The Lovely Eggs have released six successful studio albums to date with the latest being appointed ‘Album of The Day’ by the stations curators.
‘I am a Moron’, released on Egg Records in April this year, received widespread critical acclaim and reached number one in the UK Independent Album Charts. The album also took the number one spot in the UK vinyl charts as well as the UK Independent Album Breakers Chart.
The album bears the fruit of The Lovely Eggs second collaboration with Grammy award winning producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Mogwai, MGMT, Tame Impala) following his work on the twosome’s 2018 release ‘This is Eggland’.
If you’re a fan of spacey electronica, surreal lyrical content and strange psychedelic pop, we highly recommend watching The Lovely Eggs live at Highest Point 2021 on Saturday 15th May.
