The original lineup of Clean Bandit met whilst in school together and later formed the Chatto Quartet whilst in university. Trained in classical music, they would often play the likes of Jacqueline du Pré and J.S. Bach but they would often be inspired by 2-step and garage music.
It was suggested by producer Jon Wandeck that they should play one of his house music cuts and from that point on Clean bandit was born. Releasing early EP’s and Mixtapes, the newly formed group showed their dedication to mixing genres and experimentation.
Then their mainstream break came in 2014 when their collaboration with Jess Glynne ‘Rather Be’ became the sound of the summer and the second highest-selling single in the UK that year. It later received the accolade of Best Dance Recording at The Grammys in 2015.
Signing with Atlantic Records they released their debut album ‘New Eyes’ in 2014 before the follow-up ‘What Is Love?’ arrived in 2018. Collaboration has been a key part of their music and they’ve worked with huge names such as Zara Larsson, Demi Lovato and Sean Paul.
