Highest Point is super excited to announce the return of The Big Family Day Out on Sunday 14th May 🎉
Our low cost, all inclusive day out (apart from food and drink) gives you a chance to attend the Highest Point Festival site and enjoy a whole host of activities for one low ticket price.
In a fusion of King’s Coronation and Eurovision our theme this year is the kings and queens of pop, so make sure you come along dressed up as your favourite pop icon from years gone by and who knows, your outfit might be a prize winning favourite!
Starting with the main stage and our friends at Beyond Radio – you asked and we listened – you wanted the main stage to be all about the music so we’ve brought in the pop icons along with the absolute kings of people’s holiday listening… No other than the Conga Champions ‘Black Lace’ will bring all the hits to close the afternoon’s activities with a sure fire singalong set for you to join in with Superman, Agadoo, Music Man and many more.
Warming the stage before our big finale is a whole host of talent playing tribute to their musical heroes. You will be sure to be singing and dancing all day long with Magic Queen – Queen Tribute, Harry Styles Tribute, Maxine Mazumder as Adele, Tom White as Ed Sheeran. We also welcome back the wonderful boys and girls from Stagecoach Drama School in Lancaster.
Our Dell Stage this year has a whole host of shows to showcase all the different ways you can get into music. Whether that’s using your own voice with SK Shlomo and his BeatBox Adventure, a Poetry Explosion with Mark Grist, Drum workshops with Off Beat or Brass Bands with Honk! there is something musical for everyone!
Fancy a break from the music? Head up to the memorial square for Crafty Vintage – purveyors of classic vintage, collectables, retro wares, quirky handmade, fine foods and delectable cuisine – go along and see a magnificent showcase of talent from the finest creators, collectors and artisans in the land.
Whilst you’re up there, why not head into the Butterfly House and Lancaster’s own mini-zoo – both of which are once again included in the cost of your ticket – and take some time to watch the beautiful butterflies float around or the cheeky meerkats spy on your every move.
Down on the grassy slope inside the stretch tents the wonderful team at Hartbeeps are back to entertain our youngest audience along with the crew from The Fun Gang
Inside the magnificent Ashton Memorial is our craft zone where you can take home your very own screen printed bag or make your very own magical story jar or simply take in the magnificent views across Lancashire and out toward Morecambe Bay.
Which way you go from here is up to you but we suggest you head down the hill to the Bergonia Garden and meet the Birds and the Bees as well as the Creepy Crawly Roadshow. Keeping with the wild theme to find Storytelling by the fire whilst the Wilderness Tribe teach you all about cooking outdoors. It’s a really wild day out!
After you’ve weaved your way in and out out of the huge selection of food stalls and grabbed a drink at the bar, now is your chance to climb aboard the fire engine, have a photo with the Paw Patrol, dance with Optimus Prime and Bumblee, or have your very own song penned by The Songsmiths. There’s so much to see and do wrapped into one low ticket price and that’s before you’ve headed off to meet the Wizards at The Magic Forest Trail or down the slope to meet T-Rex and his friends in our very own Jurassic Park
As the sun starts to set and the day draws to an end, it’s time to jump back onto the sundial and join the Jane Blackburn and RagTag Arts Grand Parade with costume making, a festival photo booth, Mad Junk Mini Golf and Loose Parts Play happening all day up on the mound.
With something for everyone, and half the tickets already gone we hope you get to join us at The Big Family Day Out 2023 in Williamson Park, Sunday 14th May 2023.
